School Meals

As of September 2014, all Key Stage 1 pupils – Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, have been  entitled to a free school lunch.  This lunch is a hot meal and the school catering services ensures that this is a well-balanced, nutritional meal.  Allergies and dietary requirements will be accommodated.

For our Key Stage 2 children, the school has the facilities for children to bring either a packed lunch from home or pay for a school meal.  The price of a school meal is currently £2.20 per day.  Children pay on a daily basis and the money is handed directly to a member of the kitchen staff each lunch time - the exact amount, wherever possible, should be sent. School meals must be paid for as they are taken, as the School Meals Catering Services are contracted to provide them and they do not operate in arrears.

Mrs Culleton, the school cook, is happy to deal with any queries relating to school meals.

Packed lunches must be brought into school in a suitable container, ideally marked with your child’s name.  For safety reasons, fizzy canned drinks and hot drinks are not permitted.

No distinction is made at lunchtime between those children who receive a free school meal and those who pay.

We encourage all parents who think that they may qualify for free school meals to apply for them, even if your child does not intend to take the meal.  This may seem a little strange, but registering can make a big difference to the amount of money given to the school to educate your child.

School operates staggered lunchtime eating arrangements, which allows children to sit with their friends, chat socially and generally enjoy being together.
