Reopening of School - March 2021
A guidance booklet was sent home from school last week with all of the information needed to help pupils and families prepare for our full reopening on Monday 8th March at 8.45am. This is also available on the school website. Please see the key information below which we are sure will be of use to you:
All pupils return to school on Monday 8th March – school attendance is compulsory from this day onwards.
‘Fun and Friendship Day’:
Monday 8th March is our ‘Fun and Friendship Day’ where pupils can wear their own clothes, catch up with their friend whilst completing some lovely, fun activities both indoors and outdoors. We ask that the children bring in a spare pair of trainers/wellies as they may be visiting Forest School and we aim to be outside as much as we can despite the weather! Please send in spare footwear in a labelled plastic carrier bag.
On Monday, to celebrate the full reopening of school we will be having a party lunch. Pupils in Reception, Years 1 and 2 will receive this meal free as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meal Scheme. Pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, who are not in receipt of Free School Meals, must ensure that their Parentpay account is credited with £2.40 for the party lunch.
Start of Day Arrangements:
School gates will open at 8.45am – 9.00am each day. We ask parents/carers to stagger their drop off times to avoid any congestion or bottlenecking at the school gate. Pupils will come into school on their own through the gate each morning and walk to class. Staff will be on hand to greet the children on the yard/at the gate. Parents/carers are not permitted to come on to the playground at morning drop off.
End of Day Arrangements:
Home time is set from 3.00pm. Parents/carers are permitted to come onto the premises for the safe handover of pupils. Parents of pupils in Reception, Years 1 and 2 are asked to queue outside the class gates to collect your child/ren and move back onto the track to exit via the double gates on to the car park.
Parents/carers in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 can access the site by walking around the daily mile track, collecting your child from their classroom area and returning to the track before exiting through the car park gates.
We request that:
Only one adult collects their child/ren
All adults wear a face covering unless medically exempt when entering the site
All adults maintain and respect social distance guidelines when on the premise
There is no congregating at the school gates by any adults at the beginning and end of each day.
Pupils are to wear school uniform as normal from Tuesday 9th March. We appreciate due to the current lockdown situation and restrictions on purchasing uniform so we are happy for pupils to wear either their winter or summer uniform as of next week. We do insist on high standards of uniform however if there is any kind of problem or query that you have please contact the school office.
Pupils will have individual resource packs in class like we did in the Autumn Term. Pupils will only need to bring in their water bottle, packed lunch and reading books/record from home. Everything thing else will be provided in school as we have to limit what is brought into school which still includes things like birthday sweets/treats until further notice.
Years 5 & 6 Walking Home:
Pupils in Years 5 and 6 who had permission to walk home alone will be able to do so again as of Monday 8th March. All permission slips from the Autumn Term still stand. If you require a consent form to allow your child to walk home alone then please contact the school office. Pupils walking home will be dismissed at 3pm and not before.
